CODoP VOLUNTEER OPPORTUNITIES

(currently being accomplished by a small number of very dedicated volunteers):

The following volunteer opportunities may be available at either the local (congressional district) level or at the state wide level:

Fundraising/Event Coordinator – create ideas for funding the state campaign; coordination with national campaign. Create ideas for outreach and fundraising.  Example: we just co-ventured two comedy night fundraisers with “Swami” - a professional (DoP supporter) comedian. Assist CDTL’s in finding tabling and other outreach opportunities. 4-6 hrs/mo

Political Coordinator – A politically savvy activist who would advise local CDTL’s (and state coordinator) on best ways to lobby Federal CO legislators and other relevant state officials (state senators and representatives, Governor, mayors, etc). 4-6 hrs/mo

PR & Media Coordinator -write press releases for statewide events and assist CDTL’s in basics of media outreach – example: use of YourHub.com to create local stories. Develop/maintain personal relationships with statewide media/TV/radio reporters; work with Event coordinator to achieve DoP media opportunities. Develop online media opportunities. 4-6 hrs/mo

Financial/Treasurer – Informal monthly treasurers report to State coordinator. 2-4 hrs/mo

Communications network (email data base) – maintain existing 800+ member PhPlist email data base; assisting CDTL’s with communications to their congressional district volunteers. 2-6 hrs/mo

Grass roots organizer/Trainer – Develop outreach/lobbying programs for current team leaders and new volunteers. 2-4 hrs/mo

Statistics Coordinator – compiling data to understand the impact and cost of violence (statewide or by local congressional district) which would arm volunteers with relevant information for discussions with Senate/Congressional leaders. Would work closely with the CODoP model project volunteers 2-? hrs/mo

City and Organization “support of DoP” Resolutions Coordinator – assist CDTL’s in channeling volunteers into efforts to obtain resolutions of support from city councils and other civic/social justice organizations. 2-4hrs/mo

Outreach Coordinator – develop outreach plans for progressive, conservative and spiritual communities.

Webweaver – maintain and upgrade existing www.CODoPcampaign.org website. Keep calendar updated for State Coordinator and CDTL’s 8-10 hrs/mo.

Model DoPN Project - simulate the operation of a "Regional" Department of Peace and Nonviolence using Colorado volunteer resources.  Address one or two "key issues" for Colorado Districts.  For more information....
